SOME EXCEPTION CASES:
The above Thermogram is of the Top Head section of a Vertical Waste Heat Boiler. Excessive overheating was found on several areas of this head but the two worst areas were located at the weld sections of the Outlet Nozzle and the Vessel to Head Weld directly below the Nozzle.

This problem was due to refractory damage or degradation. Localized External Steam Cooling was administered which can be seen on this thermogram by the cool dark bands. Unfortunately the cooling was placed at the wrong location, missing the overheating sections.

From our Infrared Survey, the exact location of the overheating was found and the cooling was accurately placed.
