This image shows an overheating Electrical Bus Isolator Connection at a major Sub-Station.
Without Infrared Thermography, this problem would have went unnoticed and would have caused a shutdown of the entire electrical grid, resulting in power failures throughout the entire area.
This image is of a 66Kv oil-cooled Tansformer (Cooling Fins Section). Infrared Inspection showed that a complete bank of fins were abnormally cold, which was due to Low Oil Level.
Without proper oil circulation throughout these coolin fins, the transformer can overheat and burn out.
This image is of a 66Kv Transmission Line Pole. Infrared Inspection showed an abnormal hot ring around each bushing which was identified as Tracking/Corona Discharge.
This problem can lead to overheating of the bushing and conductor and also burnout/blow-out of the actual bushing.
